This Privacy Policy explains how Mother Tongue Media (“we”, “us”, “our”), the responsible party for data collected across our group of websites (including https://mothertonguemedia.co.za/ and other websites we operate or manage on behalf of lisenethini.co.za collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you sign up for a newsletter on any of our websites.
Mother Tongue Media handles newsletter sign-up data centrally for our group of websites. This means that regardless of which of our websites you signed up on, your data is processed under this single Privacy Policy and the practices described below.

1. Who is Responsible for Your Data
Mother Tongue Media is the “responsible party” (under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, POPIA) — equivalent to a “data controller” under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — for your personal data collected through the newsletter sign-up forms on our group of websites.

2. What Data We Collect
When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number (cellphone)
We also automatically collect certain technical information when you visit our Website, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and browsing behavior, through cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5).
3. Why We Collect Your Data (Purpose and Legal Basis)
As a South African company, we process your personal data in accordance with POPIA. Where you are located in the EU/EEA/UK, we also rely on the equivalent legal bases under the GDPR.

4. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the following categories of service providers, who process it on our behalf or as independent controllers for their own advertising purposes as described below:
4.1 Brevo (email marketing platform)
We use Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) to store your contact details and send newsletters and marketing emails. Brevo processes your name, email address, and phone number as our data processor, under its own data processing agreement and privacy safeguards. Learn more at Brevo’s own privacy policy.
4.2 Google (analytics and advertising)
We use Google services (such as Google Analytics and/or Google Ads) to understand how visitors use our Website and to measure and deliver advertising. Google may process your IP address, device identifiers, and browsing behavior. Depending on your settings, Google may act as an independent controller for ad personalization. 4.3 Adform (advertising technology)
We use Adform, a digital advertising platform, to serve and measure the performance of our online advertising campaigns, including on third-party websites. Adform may place cookies or similar identifiers on your device and process browsing data to show you relevant ads and report on campaign performance.
4.4 Meta / Facebook (social media advertising)
We use the Facebook Pixel and/or Facebook’s advertising tools (Meta Platforms, Inc.) to show you relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram and to measure how our ads perform. This may involve sharing a hashed version of your email address or phone number with Meta for “Custom Audiences” matching, where you have consented to this. Meta acts as an independent controller for its use of this data — see Meta’s Privacy Policy.
Note: if any of these tools are only used internally (e.g., you don’t use Facebook Custom Audiences matching), remove or adjust the relevant sub-section so it accurately reflects what you actually do.
4.5 Other disclosures
We may also disclose your data where required by law, to protect our legal rights, or in connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition).
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our Website uses cookies and similar technologies (including those set by Google, Adform, and Facebook/Meta) to:

Subject to POPIA (and the GDPR, if you are in the EU/EEA/UK), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete data
- Delete your data, or request it be destroyed or de-identified once we’re no longer authorized to keep it
- Restrict or object to processing, including objecting to your data being used for direct marketing at any time, free of charge
- Data portability (receive your data in a usable format, where applicable)
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, or update your preferences)

9. Children’s Privacy
Our newsletter is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
